Beginning at the seafront near the Vertical Pier, we’ll walk through Victorian Redcar, uncovering stories of the shipwreck, maritime superstitions, women and the sea, protective talismans, fossil folklore, and the traditions woven into everyday coastal life. The tour continues along Station Road and Queen Street, pausing at the town clock to reflect on time, community, and the evolution of folk practice — including modern apothecary traditions and witchcraft spaces now rooted in the town.
Timed to low tide, this experience includes beach access to view the wreck remains and explore the folklore of hag stones, Devil’s toenails, and driftwood shaped by the sea.
