***IMPORTANT PLEASE RSVP IN COMMENTS WITH NUMBER OF CHILDREN AND AGES if you are planning to attend - The Fire Department needs an accurate head count to effectively plan this event. If we have a high number of interest, children may need to be broken up into two back-to-back sessions.***Who is it for?
The presentation is designed with children ages 5-9 in mind. However, families with children outside this range are encouraged to use their judgment in deciding if the material will be a good fit.
What will be covered?
Children will go through a simulated and interactive residential house setup to learn critical fire safety, prevention, and evacuation skills in various rooms of the house. It features simulated, non-toxic smoke and realistic scenarios for children to practice exiting safely, including using a ladder off a rear balcony. A firefighter will dress in turnout gear so children can see what they will look and sound like during a home rescue mission. How and why to dial 9-1-1 will also be covered.
