The Wattle Fellowship invites you to Spotlight 2024: the second of three events that showcase the learnings, development and impact of students involved in our program. You will have the opportunity to hear about the journey and projects fellows have undertaken, and connect with other people passionate about sustainability over lunch.

🌏 Our mission is to unlock the leadership the planet needs. Our vision is one where sustainability practices and principles are embedded into every social endeavour. Wattle Fellowship action projects are diverse and divergent, but all aim to create positive social and environmental outcomes.

🎯 At this event, our fellows will share with you:
1. How tracking can increase civic engagement and political accountability through the EPIC (Environmental Policy Influence Count) Tracker (Kaavya Jha, Diploma in Languages, Master of Public Policy and Management)
2. The unfolding revolution of cargo bikes and how they are reducing car use (Ellen Martin, Master of Urban Planning)
3. The power of games as a catalyst for climate action (Nellie Seale, Doctor of Philosophy - Engineering and IT)
4. Transformation of a nursing school sim lab into sustainability practice (Meiling Zhou, Master of Advanced Nursing Practice/Master of Public Health)
5. Opportunities for communities, businesses, and individuals to leverage existing skills to address sustainability challenges (Timothy McIntosh-Hannah, Master of Environment)
6. The ways planetary health and community development intersect, with a focus on African youth (Radhia Abdirahman, Master of Public Policy and Management)
7. How modeling the University of Melbourne's operations and supply chain impact on biodiversity can improve sustainability strategies (Samuel Hickman, Bachelor of Science)

⏰ Please arrive from 11:50am for a 12:05pm start which will be hosted by Wattle Fellowship Program Director Linh Do.
🙏 Thank you to EY for hosting us and creating a waste-not vegetarian menu for you to enjoy.

🤗 Come along to network, hear ideas from the next generation, and learn about fellow-led sustainability action projects designed to create a positive impact.

🎟 Want to hear from more fellows? We also have Spotlights events on the 7th of May at St Hilda's College and the 9th of May at Science Gallery Melbourne.

✍ Interested in becoming a fellow? We are currently accepting applications from University of Melbourne students - applications are open until the 21st of April.
Our Wattle Spotlight series are designed and delivered by our partners Every Bit Counts.
