We are happy to invite you to join the release of the project Watery Bodies by Giemaš by Nanna Elvin Hansen and Eliza Bozek. After a couple of years of growing and shape-shifting the project is now taking on a new form of a vinyl release!
The vinyl-launch will take place at Nordsø Records on the 25th of May from 17-20. Join us for a collective listening session, followed by a drink at Nordsø Records’ cosy bar surrounded by the vinyl press machinery.
Can you not join us in person? Then tune in on The Lake Radio as the compositions will be aired on the Lake Radio on the day: https://thelakeradio.com

Watery Bodies by Giemaš emerged from a sonic research into the extractive landscape of the quartzite quarry at the Giemaš mountain. The soundscape compositions are woven out of field recordings collected during our two field trips to the quartzite mine in the area of Austertana and the village of Lávvonjárga. The above mentioned quarry is one of the world’s largest quartzite mines, extracting around 850,000 megatons annually. It is situated in the formerly Danish-controlled area of Sápmi in northernmost Norway, close to the Russian and Finnish borders. The recordings testify to how the workings of the mine exert a constant sonic presence in the nearby village of Austertana, and become interwoven into the fabric of the local sound habitat. As visitors in the landscape, we wanted to position ourselves as listeners and carefully attune to the soundscapes and the movements within them.

The launch is presented in collaboration with O-Overgaden, Art Matter Festival, Nordsø Records and The Lake Radio and kindly supported by the Danish Art Council.
Graphical design for the vinyl is made by Anders Gerning, while mastering was done by Jammin Masters.
