About this Event
During this workshop we will be taking a structured approach to drawing and painting the human face. Faces are one of the most engaging subjects to draw and paint.
We will be exploring the shapes, the character of the human face and the proportional differences, as well as the individual expression of personality.
Different turns of the head present different drawing challenges. We will be observing a full-face portrait, a three-quarter view and a profile.
What materials do l need?
We will need a set of watercolour paints, watercolour pencils (if you already have some), a tube of white tempera, two or three jars for water, a set of paint brushes suitable for watercolours, a very good quality watercolour paper and some tissue paper.
We will be getting an inspiration from the works of famous art masters, but we will aim to create our own individual work.
This workshop is suitable for both beginners and students who have previously attended our art courses and workshops. If you are new to this, please do not worry, you will be under the professional guidance of our artist and tutor Marina.
Depending from your budget you can purchase your art materials from the professional art shop Goslings in Sudbury, art online shops, or find more affordable materials in the Works and Poundland.
By the end of this workshop we will aim to know the basics of drawing/painting the portrait, but also have fun by doing so.
