Featured Poet Bios:
Gary V. Powell is a Pushcart Prize nominee for his poetry and short fiction. His debut poetry chapbook, Super Blood Wolf Moon, won Kallisto Gaia Press’s 2020 Contemporary Poetry Prize. His second poetry chapbook is Permafrost, published by Finishing Line Press in 2023. Gary’s new chapbook is The Largesse of the Maidenhair Fern (Main Street Rag Publishing, spring 2026). Recent poems appear or are forthcoming in/at the Telluride Institute, Writer’s Digest, Southword, Passager Journal 2025, Oberon Poetry Journal, Northcoast Voices Anthology, and Kakalak Anthology. A retired lawyer, Gary lives with his beautiful wife near the shores of Lake Norman, NC.
David E. Poston’s new poetry collection, Letting Go, is forthcoming from Fernwood Press in spring 2026. He is the author of three previous poetry collections, including Postmodern Bourgeois Poetaster Blues, winner of the NC Writers’ Network Randall Jarrell/Harperprints Chapbook Competition, and Slow of Study, a finalist for the Texas Review Press Breakthrough Prize. His poetry and prose have appeared recently or are forthcoming in Pedestal, moonShine review, NC Literary Review, Garfield Lake Review, and Sugar House Review. David is a Pushcart Prize nominee, a former Kakalak editor, and an NC Poetry Society board member. A retired teacher, David lives with his lovely wife in Gastonia, NC.

Open Mic Guidelines:
Please arrive 6:30–6:45 to sign up in person, as spots are limited & go quickly. No holds. Each open mic reader has (at host’s discretion) up to 5 minutes on stage to share 1–2 one-page poems. If you sign up to read, please stay to hear & support your fellow poets.
