About this Event
Join staff form the FRT to learn how to carry out water quality testing, as part of our citizen science approach to improving the River Esk.
It is known that there are several sources of mineral pollution in the River Esk, but we want to expand on the data currently gathered and get more local people involved. As more people become aware of the problems and why they occur then the more likely it is that the community can push for change and improvement.
Our training helps volunteers understand what minerals we are testing for, why they are present in the river and how the data you will gather helps us to build a better picture of what is going on on the river and what needs to be done to improve it. The data our volunteer monitors gather will be available publicly empowering the local community with their own source of information.
Once trained our water quality surveyors can join one of our local surveying teams or can talk to us about the possibility of setting up their own.
We will be running water quality monitoring training sessions every month so check out the list of alternative dates to find one that suits you.
This training session starts at 18:00 and runs until approximately 19:30 depending on questions and feedback.
The training takes place out on location so check the description as there are different locations used throughout the year. Please make sure to unblock emails from Eventbrite so they do not go straight to your junk mail.
Booking is essential.
