Join us on August 15, 2026 as we take the T+T van to the small community of Schuyler (pronounced “Skyler”), VA.We will enjoy a private tour of the Earl Hamner House- the boyhood home of author Earl Hamner, who is best known for being the creator, executive producer, and charismatic narrative voice of the long-running television series The Waltons.
Lunch – participants will order and pay for their own lunch from nearby Ike’s Market Deli. Our lunches will be delivered to the Walton Home where we will eat in the Walton’s dining room.
After lunch we head over to the Walton’s Mountain Museum whose collection includes The Waltons TV series features props, set replicas and videos. Also, a 30-minute video featuring Earl Hamner and the stars of "The Waltons".
We will enjoy hand-scooped ice cream before we head out around 2:30PM.
En route home, we will take a looksee at the Quarry Gardens nature area and botanical gardens. There are 6 quarries created from the dump sites that serviced the Alberene Soapstone Company founded 1883, which is still in operation!
PRICE PER PERSON: $49.00. The full amount is due when the reservation is made. Lunch is at your own expense.
PRICE INCLUDES: Walton's Homestead guided tour, roundtrip parks and recreation transit van transportation, and a tour host. Participants will order and pay for their own lunch from Ike's.
DEPARTURE TIME AND LOCATIONS: The van will depart at 9:30AM City of Roanoke Public Works Bldg. 1802 Courtland Rd, NE. Return time to Roanoke is around 5:00PM.

CANCELLATION POLICY: The trip is based on a minimum amount of paid participants. Should we cancel the trip; a full refund will be given. If you cancel prior 7 days prior departure a full refund will be issued. Less than 7 days there will be 50% service fee collected.
