We'll discuss Impressionism, Post-Impressionism and the transition to new forms
About this Event
🖼️ "How Modernism Was Born? 1860–1910"
Imagine: the end of the 19th century. The world is accelerating, trains beat out rhythms on the rails, photography displaces painting, and time slips through your fingers.
Artists rebel, ready to suffer in poverty for the sake of a new idea — but the public laughs at their paintings.
Time passes — and their works are worth millions.
💡 Why? We'll hear your versions at the end of the lecture!
We'll explore the period 1860–1910:
▪️ The 7 main Impressionists and their revolution. How did they change the view of reality?
▪️ Why did even allies turn away from the Impressionists? What in their art turned out to be a dead end?
▪️ How did scandals at the Salon of the Refused* give birth to new movements — Cubism, Fauvism and others?
▪️ What philosophical ideas turned art upside down?
▪️ Using examples in the halls of the National Gallery, we'll see everything with our own eyes
*Salon of the Refused - the first independent exhibition created by artists who were rejected by the official Academy of Arts. Instead of classical canons, they proposed a new view of painting
This lecture is the key to understanding Modernism (and the foundation without which contemporary art seems meaningless).
