About this Event

On today’s walks – we will wander around the City of London to discover the literary history of women in the square mile

Authors, writers and journalists – as well as women who penned their own autobiographies.

Some of the character will be well known such as Agatha Christie, JK Rowling, Mary Wollstonecraft and the Bronte Sisters

But there will also be characters who will be less known who we will encounter on the walk.

Maria Hackett who put pen to paper in her battle with St Pauls. Perdita who seduced a Prince and then became a writer. "Mad Madge" Cavendish - poet, scientist, fiction writer and playwright. As well as the adventures of 'The Wonderful Adventures of Mrs Seacole in Many Lands' which was the life story of nurse Mary Seacole.


And the walk takes place on Mother's Day as well as during the month of International Women's Day 2026 !
