About this Event
This is the final in a series of walks along the Medway and Kent Coast.
Margate reinvented itself as a fashionable seaside resort in the 18th century. Wealthy Londoners would come to enjoy the health benefits of sea bathing in what was known as the Margate Season. While they were in Margate they could enjoy dancing, card games, a visit to the library and promenading the seafront.
Join Rob for a walk looking at Margate's relationship with London. We will look at the historic Old Town of Margate, see the beautiful sands beloved of Turner and T S Eliot, and the end the walk by the Turner Contemporary Gallery, which has led a number of artists to move to the town.
The walk is about 2.0 miles.
