Join parliamentary tour guide Nick Richmond on a spring walk to the Ouse Valley Viaduct , described as one of the most beautiful viaducts in Britain . Completed in 1842 and designed by Jonathan Urpeth Rastrick - it's a Victorian marvel of engineering. You've probably been over it many times on the train to London but we're going to see it from a different perspective , wandering among the 37 semi-circular arches ( selfie heaven )IMPORTANT - this is a " proper " walk taken at a leisurely pace through some beautiful countryside - walking shoes are strongly recommended as there may be mud on the way. There is no safe parking at the site and we will need to return the way we came . The walk starts at Haywards Heath train station and it's 3 miles through the Sussex countryside and 3 miles back again but it is worth the walk .
On the way you'll hear about the triumphs and disasters involved in creating the London to Brighton line and the story of the men who built it . Bring water , conversation , a packed lunch and sunshine .
Tickets are £10. You can pay on the day by card or cash . Look forward to seeing you there. Any problems you can call me on 07490953722
