About this Event
The Vernon Street Bridge has both divided and connected Worcester's communities on either side for decades. It will have to be replaced in the coming years, but what it will become and how it relates to other connections across I-290 is being decided now through the Vernon Connected project.
We envision an interchange designed for connecting; where a dividing highway is now transformed into a unifying corridor; where community art, reduced noise pollution, and sustainable and innovative design meet; where walking, cycling, youth-friendly spaces, and affordable access to resources are encouraged; and where shared public spaces celebrate culture, nature, and local pride ensuring no neighborhood is left behind.
