About this Event
After living two years in Ecuador and then, decades later, making several Latin American work/trek visits, Mountaineers hike leader and VP of Branches Peter Hendrickson and his wife Nancy thought Mallorca looked like a great island to walk, so they undertook to trek La Ruta de Pedra en Sec (The Drystone Route, GR 221) and lucked out with early December 2019 weather! The trek took them along Mallorca's northwest coast, with views north across the Mediterranean Sea to the lights of Barcelona.
Join Peter and Nancy for this 21st Walking the Wild Event on August 24, 2021 from 7-8:30PM, featuring extraordinary adventures on foot across the wilds of the world, and experience amazing photos as well as details of the mountainous route, the villages, the history, the people and the incredible kilns, terraces and cisterns.
AND WE'RE BACK WITH AN IN-PERSON EVENT! The event will be held in person at the Mountaineers Program Center, Goodman A and B , and also will be broadcast on zoom. Only a few in-person tickets are available right now, but we're hoping to offer more when rules are relaxed at the end of June!
Doors will open at 6:30PM for you to get some simple snacks and drinks and interact with old and new traveling friends! The presentation will begin promptly at 7PM and end at 8:30PM with time for Q&A at the end.
An advance ticket will be required at the door (at this time we don't anticipate having any tickets for sale at the door), and also for you to receive the zoom link to join the presentation. Ticket sales for this event will open at 7PM on the evening of June 17, 2021. Tickets for zoom and in-person attendance will be $10 for Mountaineers members, $15 for the general public. Revenues from ticket sales go exclusively to support volunteer-led hiking and backpacking programs with the Foothills and Seattle Mountaineers. We hope you will join us!
