About this Event
Wigan-born Theodore Major has been described as a 'last forgotten master of British twentieth century art'. Major was a prolific artist, influenced by the industrial landscapes of his childhood, his love for the poetry of William Blake, and the paintings of Van Gogh. However, throughout his life he repeatedly rejected attempts by curators and collectors who sought to buy his work.
Michael Howard, an independent scholar, writer, painter and curator, is currently working on 'Walking on Fire', a two-volume publication on the life and works of Major. Join Michael as he tell us more about this elusive and captivating artist.
Note: Tea/Coffee and biscuits included within the ticket price.
