About this Event
Welcome to Paint a Piece of Furniture Day - Learn Upcycling Skills and Techniques! Join us on Sat Sep 21 2024 at 10:00 AM at Leigh Spinners Mill for a fun and creative day of upcycling furniture. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced DIY-er, this event is perfect for anyone looking to learn new skills and techniques for transforming old furniture into something beautiful and unique. Get ready to roll up your sleeves, grab a paintbrush, and let your creativity shine! Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn from experts and meet other like-minded individuals who share your passion for upcycling. See you there!
You will be guided through the process by Ruth and Alice, experienced furniture painters both running their own furniture painting projects.
Bring a piece of furniture to transform - general rule is if you could carry it yourself up the stairs, it's the right size. Think side table, bedside drawers. It needs to be UNPAINTED! Stripping paint off furniture takes a while, and you may not get your project finished within the day. If you're unsure of the suitability of your project, get in touch and we can advise you personally.
If you're going to struggle to find something to paint, get in touch and we can find something for you from our stock for a small additional charge.
Other than furniture, all materials you may need are provided. Wear clothes that you don't mind getting messy - paint can go all over the place! We do provide PPE and aprons though.
A light lunch is provided, from an independent catering business located within the Mill. Brews and biscuits are also on hand to make the day easy.
Ruth's furniture can be viewed online at https://www.reetgoodwood.co.uk/shop and Alice's is at www.remadewomen.co.uk
The Mill is an interesting heritage building to visit, home to lots of independent small businesses, including a cinema, craft ale bar, table tennis club and even indoor archery. Information about the Mill can be found here https://www.spinnersmill.co.uk/
The cost of your ticket supports our community work through Reet Good Wood Club and ReMade Wigan. Reet Good Wood Club is a space for adults to get creative, support one another before, through and after diagnosis. ReMade Wigan is a different kind of space for women who've experienced difficult times, where we provide free to access crafts and skills based learning opportunities in a women's only environment.
ReMade Wigan is a registered charity, trading as ReMade Leigh and ReMade Women.
