Hey Brisbane, take steps to end mental health stigma. Walk as one - with friends, family, your community, veterans and first responders!
About this Event

Saturday 30 May 2026 – Pelican Park, Clontarf

Join us for the Brisbane Walking Off The War Within event as we walk together in support of positive mental health, community connection, and the legacy of Nathan Shanahan.

Featuring a live performance from the Australian Army Band

We’re thrilled to announce that the Australian Army Band will once again lead the morning with an unforgettable performance — a major highlight of the event and a powerful way to bring our community together.

Meet the Australian Defence Force & Emergency Services

This year’s event will also include displays and participation from:

  • Australian Defence Force
  • Queensland Police Service (QPS)
  • Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS)
  • Queensland Fire & Emergency Services (QFES)
  • ADF Cadets
  • Veteran organisations, community groups, and support services

These groups help create an engaging, interactive village area filled with information, demonstrations, and opportunities to connect.

About the Walk

Let’s march as one and shine a light on positive mental health and wellbeing.

On Saturday 30 May from 7:30am, walk with Emergency Service Personnel, Defence Force Personnel, and the public to honour Nathan Shanahan — a returned soldier and firefighter — and all service men and women lost to mental health battles.
Nathan was a passionate advocate for mental health and PTSI, and this event continues his legacy by starting conversations, building support, and breaking stigma.
