About this Event

The London Park to Park walk starts the new year with a refreshing walk across the expanses of Beckton, culminating in a tour of the Thames Barrier Park.

Join us for a scenic stroll through Beckton starting at Beckton DLR station, E6 5NT. This in-person event could be just the thing to slough off the hibernations of Christmas and make a healthy commitment to 2025.

Now 25 years old and mature, the Thames Barrier Park is a dramatic, architectural garden, highly designed and considered, from the underblanket of crushed concrete that protects the top soil from the ghosts of chemicals past, to the copses of trees and the pavilion of peace by the water. Right at the heart, cutting diagonally through the garden like a sunken race track, are the parallel yew and rosemary hedges, curved and dashing like Newmarket horses.

We are delighted to invite one of the original park designers to join us and give an insight into the history and success of the park.
