About this Event
Many people associate homelessness with male rough sleepers. But nearly 60% of people coming to Victorian homelessness services last year were women.
Walk in Her Shoes, a powerful exhibition currently touring Victoria, gives you the chance to follow the journeys of three of these women, to understand more about what it's like to navigate homelessness and housing insecurity.
Join us as the exhibition and local forum stops in Mornington Peninsula Shire at Peninsula Community Theatre on Monday 16 March (6:30pm for a 7pm start).
What's in store on the night?
- Immersive exhibition – walk through a moving display of stories and portraits that showcase the resilience of women navigating housing insecurity.
- Panel discussion – join a conversation with panellists including Rosie Batty AO, campaigner against family violence; the Hon Harriet Shing, Victoria's Minister for Housing; local homelessness workers and lived experience experts.
- Get involved – learn about simple ways you can support change at a local level.
This event is presented by Council to Homeless Persons, Victoria's independent peak body working to end homelessness, in partnership with Mornington Pensinsula Shire, the Municipal Association of Victoria, and Community Information and Support Victoria.
Register now to secure your place.
You can also catch the exhibition at Mornington Central Shopping Centre from 2-15 March 2026.
