About this Event
Description: Walk for Wellness is led by Carolyn Hartfield, a Certified Health Coach on the 2nd Saturdays and 4th Wednesdays of each month. This walking group aims to make hope and health accessible to everyone in our community. Discussions led by the Carolyn are on current health topics. Come enjoy a healthy walk, great conversations, and meet new friends.
What to expect: We will walk the boardwalk between Mason Mill Park and N. Druid Hills Rd for a total of 2 miles. Our 4th Wednesday walk is a hybrid program with walkers joining in person at Mason Mill Park and via Zoom from around the country. If you'd like to join the group virtually while you walk at your own home or local park, email [email protected] for the Zoom link. The full program lasts 1 hour.
Program leader: Your guide will be Carolyn Hartfield
Where to meet: Find Carolyn at the South Peachtree Creek trailhead near the Mason Mill Tennis Center (McConnell Dr & Mason Mill Rd). We will gather in the parking lot by the Pickleball/Tennis courts.
What to bring: Wear appropriate footwear, dress for the weather, and bring a refillable water bottle and hiking sticks if you need them.
Restrooms: Public restrooms near the playground are closed for the winter. Bathrooms are available at DeKalb Tennis Center when the Pro Shop is open (top of the purple pyramid).
Recommended ages: This program content is designed for adults.
Dogs: Leashed dogs are welcome.
Weather contingency: This program will be held rain or shine, unless conditions are dangerous.
Walking distance: Just under 2 miles
Exposure: This walk is mostly under tree canopy, but a few sections are exposed to sun and wind.
Trail surface & accessibility: This program stays on durable surfaces (concrete & boardwalk) the whole time. There are a few places where the grade is slightly above 5%. Trail width is greater than 10 feet and curb cuts provide appropriate transitions between surfaces. Boardwalk railings are 5 feet tall, but gaps between rails allow for obstructed views. Questions if this program will work for your mobility? Contact Ranger Jonah: [email protected]
