We will visit Martin’s local patch, Therfield Heath, near Royston. We will look for heathland plants including orchids, which should be flowering at this time of year, and butterflies which will hopefully include the recently introduced Adonis Blue. We will also look for the birds of The Heath, which will include various species of warbler as well as Skylarks and Meadow Pipits. There is the possibility of finding Spotted Flycatcher, a rare and declining species that is still clinging on here. Barn Owls breed locally and there is a chance that we might see one
