Helianthus - A dynamic trio, blending the soulful tones of Helen Armstrong (cello/fiddle), Ian Jones (melodeon/flute), and Helen de Lemos (sax/bagpipes/recorder). With a shared passion for French and English dance music, their lively, foot-tapping performances transport you to the heart of European folk traditions.
Sue Jones & John Neilson – Sue brings her lively fiddle playing and French music discovery to the stage, and John’s accordion magic has graced everything from ceilidh bands to creative collaborations with Francisco the Man, Bosco, and Half Six. Together, they create a fun, dynamic atmosphere perfect for any dancer.
Notes Pour Potes – A vibrant six-piece band with a long history (longer than they care to remember!) in Morris dancing and ceilidh bands. Now, they’re bringing their passion to balfolk, blending traditional rhythms with the energy of Eurodance. Liz plays hurdy-gurdy, melodeon, and concertina; Sam on percussion; Cath with piano accordion and whistles; Jenny on guitar and banjo; Gill on melodeon and recorder; and Ian on concertina. Listen out for a lively set.
The Waite Collective – A family affair! Mother Mal and daughters Rebecca and Katrina have been singing together for over 20 years. Their joyful songs, full of catchy tunes and heartfelt energy, are sure to get your feet moving as you join in on the dance floor.
Balfolk is a joyful, inclusive tradition of live folk music and social dancing from across Europe. It's an event for people of all ages and experience levels, where the focus is on having fun and connecting with others. The dances are easy to learn, and friendly dancers are always ready to show you the steps. You don’t need to bring a partner as you’ll have plenty of chances to dance with different people throughout the event. Balfolk is about community, inclusivity, and shared enjoyment. Come dance, laugh, and be part of something special!
