Explore ancient forests and waterways on a guided walk in Wainuiomata Regional Park
Join us for a special guided walk through beautiful native forest in Wainuiomata Regional Park, exploring areas not usually open to the public. Led by our knowledgeable park ranger, you’ll learn about the Wainuiomata water collection area and how this pristine water makes its way to Wellington’s taps.
This is one of our most popular summer events, and places are limited to just 30 participants. If you’ve attended before, please consider letting someone else experience this unique opportunity.
The walk will follow the Orongorongo Pipeline Tunnel and visit the historic Morton Dam—one of New Zealand’s largest concrete dams and a remarkable example of early engineering innovation.
Event Details:
Group size: Limited to 30 participants
Registration: Max two per person
Fitness level: Moderate; not suitable for children under 14
What to bring: Lunch, snacks, water bottle, and suitable footwear and clothing—you’re likely to get wet feet!
To book: Due to the overwhelming popularity of these limited capacity events, we allocate bookings via a ballot system. A ballot will open for registrations via the link below at 10am on Tuesday 27 January and close at 10am on Thursday 29 January. Names will then be drawn at random all applicants notified of the outcome by 4pm on Friday 30 January.
Bookings open from 27 Jan: https://forms.office.com/r/PbBWvK2Vtz
