July is National Lost Pet Prevention Month, which is very fitting since more pets flood into animal shelters following the 4th of July than at any other time of the year. That's why WAIF is hosting a public microchip clinic at our Coupeville shelter for pet owners who don't have their pets microchipped.Pets with a microchip were over three times more likely to be reunified with their families than those without. Yet only roughly 1 in 6—have a microchip at the point of shelter intake. Microchips also assist in determining the legal owner of a lost pet.
Cats and dogs only over 8 weeks of age. Cost is $25 per pet microchip and no appointments are necessary. Cats must be in carriers and dogs on leash upon arrival. All pets must be 8 weeks of age and older.
