Join the MAH for a special screening of the documentary Wade in the Water: A Journey Into Black Surfing and Aquatic Culture, featuring an introduction & discussion from Black Surf Santa Cruz.
Wade in the Water: The Documentary (2024) examines the often overlooked history of Africa's 1,000-year-old surf tradition spanning from Senegal to Angola. Piloted by historical experts and community leaders in the BIPOC surfing movement, this cinematic film traverses historical footage and recreations, photography, original illustrations, live-action footage, and interviews.
Come early to secure your spot and check out the Princes of Surf exhibition! This screening will take place in the MAH atrium and we encourage you to bring your own beach chair! Seating will be provided otherwise.
Popcorn is included, and drinks will be available for purchase at Front & Cooper.
