W. A. Mozart - Requiem

Il concerto si aprirà con una raffinata pagina di Leopold Koželuch, il Concerto per pianoforte a quattro mani, affidato all’eleganza interpretativa di Barbara Cattabiani e Claudia Agostini.

Figura di spicco del classicismo viennese, Koželuch fu apprezzato dai contemporanei per lo stile limpido e brillante, capace di unire la grazia melodica tipica del suo tempo a una scrittura pianistica di grande vitalità. In questa rara esecuzione su pianoforte a quattro mani, il dialogo serrato tra le due interpreti offrirà al pubblico un momento di equilibrio e leggerezza, preparando con luminosità l’ascolto del monumentale Requiem di Mozart nella seconda parte del concerto.

La Messa da Requiem K 626 in Re minore

L’ultima opera incompiuta di Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, rappresenta un labirinto di contraddizioni e misteri che nel corso del tempo ha diviso gli storici e i musicologi, alimentando congetture e accendendo passioni. Mozart portò a termine solo l’Introito: Requiem aeternam, e scrisse le parti principali dell’opera indicando di tanto in tanto il motivo melodico dell’accompagnamento. In questo stadio sono pervenuti Kyrie, Sequentia (con il Lacrimosa che si ferma dopo le prime otto battute) e l’Offertorium.

Dopo la morte di Mozart, la moglie Constanze delegò il completamento del Requiem a tre allievi del marito, per meglio avvicinarsi agli intenti originari dell’opera, ma solamente Franz Xaver Süssmayr continuò il lavoro, riordinando in modo omogeneo il lavoro dei collaboratori precedenti e completando i brani totalmente mancanti del manoscritto.
Sin dalle prime note è presente un senso d’angoscia, è come se l’autore avesse paura della morte e del giudizio ed è come se essa fosse già presente.

The concert will open with an elegant work by Leopold Koželuch, the Concerto for Piano Four Hands, entrusted to the refined artistry of Barbara Cattabiani and Claudia Agostini.

A prominent figure of Viennese Classicism, Koželuch was admired by his contemporaries for his clear and brilliant style, capable of combining the melodic grace typical of his time with a piano writing full of vitality. In this rare performance for piano four hands, the lively dialogue between the two performers will offer the audience a moment of balance and lightness, illuminating the way to the monumental Requiem by Mozart, featured in the second part of the concert.

The last and unfinished work by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart stands as a labyrinth of contradictions and mysteries that over time have divided historians and musicologists, fueling conjectures and igniting passions.
Mozart completed only the Introitus: Requiem aeternam, and wrote the principal parts of the work, occasionally indicating the melodic line of the accompaniment. At this stage, we have received the Kyrie, the Sequentia (with the Lacrimosa breaking off after the first eight bars), and the Offertorium.

After Mozart’s death, his wife Constanze entrusted the completion of the Requiem to three of his pupils, in order to preserve as faithfully as possible her husband’s original intentions. Only Franz Xaver Süssmayr, however, continued the task, reorganizing the material left by the previous collaborators and completing the entirely missing sections of the manuscript.

From the very first notes, a deep sense of anguish pervades the music — as if the composer feared death and judgment, and as if death itself were already present.
