About this Event
Chicago's Vox Venti concludes its fourth season with Quintessence, a concert of exciting and moving works meditating on life, death, belonging, and the nature of the soul. It culminates with a brand new, large-scale composition for choir, string orchestra, and clarinet with both music and text written by Ed Frazier Davis, written in memory of his father. The first half of this program will be directed by guest conductor Matthew Recio, whose own piece How to Survive Vesuvius appears alongside Caroline Shaw's and the swallow and the two winners of the Choral Foundation's 2025 Barnard Choral Composition Awards. Ed Frazier Davis conducts the second half.
