About this Event
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Abilities Tennis clinics. Abilities Tennis of North Carolina (ATANC) provides free tennis programming for athletes with intellectual disabilities ages 8 and up. Volunteers play an important role in making these clinics possible for the athletes.
Fall clinics will meet on Saturdays from 4:00-5:00 PM at Heritage High School. Saturday, September 28 there will be a Volunteer Training with Coach Dawn Kitner from 3:00 - 4:00 PM, and then you will have the opportunity to continue training at the clinic from 4:00 - 5:00 PM. Volunteers will help on the courts assisting with ball and racquet drills to help teach our athletes the highly adaptive game of tennis. Abilities athletes range in skill level with some learning how to hold and swing a racquet to hit red-dot starter balls and others playing full court with regular yellow balls. Here is ATANC's Volunteer Overview video that helps explain the way clinics are run and how volunteers support the program.
Please https://wakeforestnc.recdesk.com/Community/Program here where clinics are listed individually. Be sure to note the date and time of the clinic that you are signed up to attend and plan to arrive ten minutes before the clinic start time so we can all be in place. Wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes and bring water, sunscreen, and a racquet if you have one.
David Marquina ([email protected]) is the head coach. All volunteers must complete a background check, for those 18 and over, through the Town of Wake Forest, which will be sent after you register to volunteer. (on volunteer registration)
Thank you again for your time and support. This time on the court will certainly be the highlight of your week!
