Join the community in supporting local conservation through a hands-on citizen science program at Monarch Meadows. In partnership with Chesterfield Twp., residents are invited to participate in a summer-long monitoring effort using the nationally recognized Nature's Notebook, developed by the USA National Phenology Network. Participants will learn how to identify milkweed plants and observe monarch butterfly activity while collecting valuable ecological data. The program begins with an introductory training session led by certified Nature’s Notebook leader Jean Persely, where volunteers will learn simple observation and reporting techniques. After the introduction session, participants may visit Monarch Meadows throughout the milkweed bloom season (May through October) to document sightings of milkweed and monarch butterflies. Observations will be submitted to the program database and compiled by Six Rivers Land Conservancy to help track habitat health and support ongoing conservation efforts.Introduction Course: April 9 from 12:30-1:30PM
