This is a community event encouraging people to volunteer at one of Aris Foundation's weekly homeless outreach events. Every Tuesday, this organization serves between 150-200 unhoused people to provide clothing, food, supplies, and services. The four Tempe city council candidates will be formally invited to attend and volunteer alongside community members to provide support for our unhoused population.
You can show up to help established groups or you can bring your own items. Some examples include: any hygiene items, clothing, batteries, water bottles, vitamins, antihistamines, books, dog food in quart/gallon size Ziplocs, call phone chargers...
You can also bring food in large quantities! **If you bring/make food, WEAR GLOVES while preparing and serving. Getting sick on the street is a wildly different experience.**
Some ideas: individually wrapped sandwiches (PB&J is popular but any kind will do), pizza, popcorn, cotton candy, soda, donuts, water, individually wrapped snack food...
If you've never been to one of these events, please attend. It will fill your heart and soul with compassion to see what this community come together.
