A cultural performance that immerses the audience in the atmosphere of the Kalimantan forest through traditional Sape music and Dayak dance. An artistic and immersive experience that
introduces the richness of Dayak culture in a direct and interactive
way.
Event Description:
Opening Performance:
- Traditional music with the ambiance of the Kalimantan forest as
the opening
- Welcome speech and brief introduction to Dayak culture and
the Sape musical instrument
Live Music Performance – Sape:
- Solo Sape performance by Delly, a traditional Dayak musician
- Brief explanation about the meaning and philosophy of Sape
music
- Sape performance featuring a mix of Pop, English, and
traditional songs
Traditional Dayak Dance Performance:
- Dayak dance by 1 dancers wearing traditional costumes Accompanied by live Sape music and ethnic rhythms
- Storytelling Segment: “The Guardian of the Sacred Tree”
Format: Bilingual storytelling first told in Dayak
language (e.g., Dayak Kenyah or Ngaju), then in English.
Narrator: Performed by a storyteller or the
dancer/musician with background sape melody.
Interactive Cultural Experience:
- Dayak Dance Learning Session: Visitors are invited to try basic Dayak dance movements guided directly by the dancers
- Light interaction discussing the philosophy behind the
movements and cultural meanings
Closing:
A collaborative final performance involving the dancers,
musician, and some guests with upbeat music
