Voices in Technology: Advocate

Have you struggled with speaking up for yourself at work? Have you wondered how to champion your colleagues effectively? Does your organization need more support for underrepresented groups? Join us for this community experience, where we discuss ways to advocate for yourself and your colleagues.
In today's rapidly evolving professional landscape, technology remains the cornerstone of modern business operations. Yet, the journey of technology adoption and digital transformation is not merely about tools and systems; it's about navigating a complex web of decisions that touch every facet of an organization.
For women and underrepresented groups, this journey often involves confronting challenges such as microaggressions and biases that impede their progress and inhibit their voices from being heard. According to McKinsey & Company's Women in the
Workplace 2023 report, performance bias and microaggressions are major drivers of why many women – across all industries – hesitate to speak up, share opinions, and advocate for themselves at work.
These microaggressions harm the individual and result in missed ideas and opportunities and the loss of talented employees for organizations.
So, how can you stand up for yourself in the workplace?
How can you be an ally and advocate for underrepresented groups you’re not a part of at work?
How can your organization implement systems and initiatives that prioritize the voices of underrepresented groups?
In this community experience, we’ll bring together three technology leaders to candidly share their advocacy journey – they’ll share stories of why and how they started to advocate for themselves (and others!) in their careers, what they learned along the way, their mistakes and successes, and more. You’ll walk away with new connections, perspectives, and action steps to stand up for yourself and your colleagues.
