OLLI at UA and the Chief Tuskaloosa Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution warmly invite you to join us for a unique and immersive historical experience.
Step back in time as history comes to life among the gravestones. During this special afternoon, 12 featured individuals will be represented in period attire and stationed beside graves throughout Greenwood Cemetery, each portraying a real individual from the past and sharing the powerful story of their life and role. These 12 featured individuals represent a range of time and roles, such as the American Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Civil War, women’s roles in history, African American history and more that had a revolutionary impact on history.
Guests are invited to walk the grounds at their own pace, encountering these voices from history and discovering the personal stories, struggles and contributions that shaped our past.
This event is open to all who enjoy history, storytelling and meaningful outdoor experiences. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
Greenwood Cemetery was established in 1819 and is Tuscaloosa’s oldest burial ground.
