About this Event
Join the Alliance for Korea United - UW Chapter for an evening of powerful firsthand testimony and discussion at βVoices from North Korea: A Conversation with Defectors.β
This special panel event will feature Hyunseung Lee and Jihyang Kim, two North Korean escapees who will offer rare insight into everyday life in North Korea, the realities of the countryβs political and human rights situation, and the resilience of those who seek freedom. They will also discuss their current work to empower fellow North Korean escapees, raise awareness about human rights abuses, and contribute to long-term efforts toward peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula.
This event is open to students, faculty, and members of the public interested in human rights, international relations, Korean studies, and global peacebuilding. A Q&A session will follow the discussion, providing attendees with an opportunity to engage directly with the speakers.
We hope you will join us for this meaningful conversation and learn more about the voices and experiences that too often go unheard.
