Join Elizabeth Saunders, President of the New York Singing Teachers Association, in a unique and transformative vocal workshop. Whether you are a professional voice user or not, or have a history of vocal impediment, this was created for you.Using Meisner-based acting exercises, Anthony Braxton's improvisational Ghost Trance Music, specially selected breath
and vocal exercises, and inspiration from Kristin Linklater's book Freeing Shakespeare's Voice, different aspects of vocal and
non-vocal communication are targeted by each activity in the workshop:
* Social conditioning: Noticing and repatterning maladaptive beliefs and behaviors with regard to communicating one's
thoughts and feelings
* Maintaining connection to oneself while remaining present and responsive to another
* The stability and flexibility of the vocal instrument: To maintain strength and responsiveness when in potentially
intimidating, threatening or emotional circumstances
* Learning to identify, trust, and act on one's healthy instincts
* Thinking in a historically meaningful way about the sounds of the words you speak, and reflecting more deeply on
your own unique, lived experience of the sounds of the words you use to communicate.
The workshop is being offered on the following dates in 2025:
January 19 - 22
February 16 - 19
March 16 - 19
April 27 - 30
May 25 - 28
