Expressive Voice & Body Presence for the Actor : An Introduction to Kristin Linklater Voice Work

I invite you to come on a journey with me… A journey of self-discovery, an awakening of your body/mind/breath connection, and a freeing of your expressive and natural speaking voice. When you step into the given circumstances of the text, what’s stopping you from fully expressing your truth? Do you get nervous and go inward when your presence is challenged? Are you curious about strengthening your vocal stamina and authority?
On this 8-week exploration, you will take a deep dive into the psycho-physical landscape of your presence and draw out personalized sighs, hums, and sounds that will become the blueprint of your true voice’s potential. How can you access personalized emotional truth when exploring a character's authentic voice? Everything you desire is already within you! It’s time to seek softness and a state of readiness in your work to allow for more vulnerability, connection, and truth to be revealed. Come be the researcher of one of the most powerful instruments you have to advocate what you’re fighting for. Come journey with me to reveal more of YOU through your voice!
Your Guide: Matthew Rossoff (he/him) is one of Canada's Designated Kristin Linklater Voice Teachers and a sought out interdisciplinary educator and artist. He brings a unique and diverse background in performance, voice & speech, movement, choreography, and direction. Through his holistic actor-driven investigation of curiosity and play, he aims to draw out your authentic full body presence while embodying text in a 3-dimensional way. Matthew has several Broadway credits, holds an MFA in Performance from York University, a certified yogi, and is a Voice faculty member of Toronto Metropolitan University and the Emobided Voice Collective. Matthew is currently choreographing SCHOOL OF ROCK at Theatre Under The Starts this summer!

Friday, June 21, 28 & July 5 & 12th (PART TWO — Breath Capacity/Sensitivity/Power, Sinus/Nasal/Skull Resonators, Arpeggios, and Articulation + TEXT Exploration)
