About this Event
✨ Love our big Chicago Circle Singing gatherings, but wish you could go deeper?
✨ Curious to explore the art of group vocal improvisation in a more hands-on, intimate way?
Join vocalist and guest facilitator for VOCAL TAPESTRY—a joyful, two-hour workshop designed for singers who want to expand their skills in circlesinging and other improvisational practices.
Inspired by the traditions of Bobby McFerrin, Rhiannon, Jacob Collier, Zap Mama, and Música do Círculo, this workshop offers a rich, playful dive into collective music-making.
About Onome:
Onome creates experiences at the intersection of voice, creativity, and mindfulness. A partner artist at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, she has also worked with the United Nations, Columbia University, Juilliard, Música do Círculo in Brazil, Grace Episcopal Church, and Bobby McFerrin’s CircleSongs retreat at the Omega Institute. Born and raised in Chicago, she grew up surrounded by the sounds of her Nigerian parents and the African American vernacular of her classmates, later embracing a wide range of styles from folk, soul, and spirituals to classical chorale, rock, and hip-hop. As a vocal practitioner, she uses improvisation as a tool for creativity, consciousness, and connection - guiding groups to trust their imaginations, engage playfully, and discover the power of collective song.

🎤 About Chicago Circle Singing
Chicago Circle Singing builds community through the simple yet profound act of collective singing. In a disconnected world, we create a space where voices intertwine, fostering belonging and connection through spontaneous, co-created music. Regardless of background or ability, everyone has a place in the circle, because singing together isn’t just about making music—it’s about making community.
