Join North Central College Fine & Performing Arts for the Vocal Jazz & Latin Jazz Ensembles Spring Concert!Join us for an evening of rhythm and vibrant sound with the Latin Jazz Ensemble alongside performances by the Vocal Jazz Ensemble. This program features a mix of Afro-Latin traditions, including Cuban son (“El Cuarto de Tula,” popularized by the Buena Vista Social Club), Colombian salsa (“Rebelión by Joe Arroyo), and Peruvian cumbia and Afro-Peruvian music such as “Mama Juanita.”
The ensemble will also pay a short tribute to Willie Colón with a performance of “Idilio,” his most iconic song. The Vocal Jazz Ensemble will present a variety of styles, including both a cappella and accompanied pieces, all arranged for an all-treble group.
