About this Event
Overview
In Vocal Flow, we’ll explore the concept of "flow"—that effortless, spontaneous state where music emerges naturally from within. Through vocal improvisation, you’ll discover how to let go of perfection and embrace the thrill of experimentation and connection.
The heart of the practice is circle singing, a powerful method of creating music together in real time. As you collaborate together with fellow participants, you'll build confidence in your vocal abilities while honing your musical ear and intuitive sense of rhythm. You’ll experience the unique energy that arises from a group of voices coming together, supporting one another in a seamless, connected flow. Whether we’re harmonising, creating spontaneous melodies, or exploring rhythmic patterns, this session will be a celebration of collective creativity and shared sound.
We'll explore:
Vocal Improvisation: learning to trust your voice and improvise freely in a collaborative setting.
Circle Singing: creating harmonies, melodies, and rhythms in a dynamic, collaborative circle.
Rhythmic Exploration: experimenting with rhythms and vocal percussion to enhance groove and musical expression.
Group Dynamics & Connection: cultivating a sense of trust, vulnerability, and attuned community of singers.
Exploration & Experimentation: extending vocal boundaries and embracing the adventure!
Flow State: Tapping into a state of flow where creativity arises effortlessly and joyfully, both as an individual and within the group.
Whether you're looking to deepen your vocal practice, enhance your musicality, or simply have fun exploring sound in community, this workshop offers a nurturing space to grow and be inspired.
All levels of experience welcome - whether you're a curious beginner or experienced vocal gymnast - we all have the capacity to inspire and inform each other, and the day will be structured around the group that signs up.
Led by internationally recognised facilitator, Jane Bentley (of artbeatmusic.org), places are limited to 20 to foster group development and interconnection. Bring your curiosity, your voice, and your willingness to explore!
