VOBA Snow Sports Technician Training-SoVT

Do you work in retail or rental service and seek a review on ski and snowboard tuning and alpine binding testing? Are you looking for shop employment this winter and want to build your skills?
This course is designed for professionals in retail and rental service. Taught by VT shop clinicians, the sessions combine instruction and hands-on practice in ski and snowboard tuning and alpine binding testing.
Training Components:
- Review terminology, paperwork, materials, machines
- Discuss different situations and techniques
- Troubleshoot common issues
- Practice tuning skis / snowboards on machines
- Practice binding testing
- Understand safety
- Tips for customer relations and the retail environment
The training is organized by the Vermont Outdoor Business Alliance and funded by an Economic Development Administration - Travel, Tourism and Outdoor Recreation grant through the Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing.
Details:
- Participants must attend all 4 sessions to complete the course and receive a VOBA Snow Sports Technician Training Certificate of Completion
- Includes 8 hours of instruction and hands-on learning
- Class size: 4-6; Clinicians: 2-3
- Apply by September 12 at 5:00 pm
Eligibility:
- Priority will be given to those currently employed by a Vermont shop or those planning to apply for a snow sports technician position in a Vermont shop this winter.
- Priority will be given to under-represented communities (women, BIPOC, LGBTQ, etc.)
Acceptance:
- Please do not register unless you can commit to all four sessions.
- Acceptance is not automatically guaranteed upon registration. A review based on eligibility will result in confirmation on September 5.
