Join us in marking the 80th Anniversary of VJ Day – the day that signified the final end of the Second World War and the beginning of a long era of peace.A special commemorative service will be held at the newly refurbished War Memorial (Cross of Sacrifice in Market Hill) starting at 11.50am, with the national two minute silence at midday. This will celebrate 80 years of peace in our country whilst commemorating the sacrifices made in the past and honouring those serving in the Armed Forces of the Crown who still preserve peace today both at home and abroad.
