About this Event
Please meet your Arts and Humanities Society Representative at 1:15 pm at the entrance.
Proudly independent since 1895, the Bishopsgate Institute is a cultural venue in the City of London housed in a Grade 11 building. Since the archive opened it has been steadily growing, with unique collections both gifted and loaned. Some are London focused, but the lives they preserve and the issues they explore have national and global resonance.
Fundamental to the Bishopsgate Institute is its belief that everyone’s history should be valued and its collections and archives document the experiences of everyday life as well as the people who have campaigned for social, political and culture changes. There are some 150,000 books, pamphlets, maps and the photographic archives contain over 500,000 images. There is a growing oral-history archive and the collections contain fascinating ephemera, from banners and badges to club flyers.
The visit will last for approximately 60 minutes.
Bishopsgate Institute is located two minutes' walk from Liverpool Street Station. https://www.bishopsgate.org.uk/visit
