Schools are invited to join us (free of charge) online for a very special virtual event with CBeebies presenter and author Hamza Yassin as he presents his fascinating new book, Hamza’s Wild World.

Recommended for ages 7+ (years 2-6)

There’s a place where all the wildest adventures begin and it's right outside...

Go on a wild adventure into the animal kingdom with naturalist, wildlife cameraman and winner of Strictly Come Dancing, Hamza Yassin.

Hamza's Wild World is filled with fascinating information about the relationships between us, animals, and the environment we share - in the sky, on the land and in the sea. Packed with fantastic facts and figures, lists and infographics, and illustrated with pictures and photos as well as personal anecdotes from Hamza, who recounts his adventures into the heart of wilderness. Hamza will share everything from why herds of African buffalo keep completely silent at night, why polar bears never meet penguins, which birds experience two summers every year, and facts about his own nature heroes.

As part of this 45-minute interactive schools’ event Hamza will interviewed by Bookseller, Rhiannon Tripp and he will also share lots of tips about how every one of us can help to protect and encourage wildlife in the habitats around us.

Schools will also have the chance to put questions to Hamza for this special event.

Hamza Yassin moved to UK when he was young and settled in Scotland following the completion of his Masters Degree. He made his first television appearance on The One Show, and went on to become Ranger Hamza for CBeebies live action show Let’s Go for a Walk. Since then, Hamza has appeared on The One Show, Countryfile and is a presenter on the BBC’s Animal Park. He has also presented his own Channel 4 documentaries, Scotland: My Life in the Wild and Scotland: Escape to the Wilderness and in September 2023 he presented his own BBC One Primetime TV programme Hamza Strictly: Birds of Prey.

Waterstones Virtual Author Visits are the perfect opportunity to encourage reading for pleasure, introducing children to new books as well as fabulous author & illustrators, and to help inspire a love of reading even in the most reluctant readers. Taking part will support children’s literacy, creative writing and encourage a love of reading for pleasure.

Taking place on Zoom, this 45-minture webinar session will include a live presentation from the author, giving children the chance to hear about the authors book, characters and writing processes. There will also be a chance for children to have their questions answered live during the event!
