About this Event
This virtual music production workshop will focus on Sound Design techniques using virtual software instruments. With a focus on digital synthesis in coordination with audio effects processing, we’ll unpack a number of core techniques to generate complex timbres— shaping the spectral and dynamic characteristics of sound in musically useful ways. Technical topics will stay relatively high-level using commercially available software plugins hosted within Reaper as our Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) of choice for this demonstration. Participants will gain practical insight into a variety of synthesis techniques, signal flow paradigms, modulation effects, and automation tools to control synthesis and audio effects parameters. The workshop will be held in RMCAD’s Rocky Mountain Sound Lab (RMSL) and feature several capabilities of the studio’s software and hardware resources.
