Virtual Camp United Nations for Girls is a live, interactive class that introduces girls to international politics and the work of the UN.
About this Event

Virtual Camp United Nations for Girls introduces girls to the work of the United Nations and international policy. Virtual Camp United Nations begins with a lesson on the history of the United Nations and its purpose. This is followed by a study of the structure, leadership, and the rules of procedure of the United Nations. Each student will be given an assignment to serve as a delegate for a UN Member State. When the General Assembly convenes delegates will propose a resolution. The resolution will be subject to negotiation and amendment by the UN Delegates before a vote on a final version of the resolution. Girl Scouts and Girl Guides earn a Global Action Award or World Thinking badge for participating in Virtual Camp United Nations for Girls. Ticketing for ages 11-17.

The class is limited to 12 students. The class will be hosted via GoToMeeting. Students should use a headset or earbuds for the class to provide the best quality audio connection.

Is the registration fee refundable? The registration fee is non-refundable unless the GIP cancels a class. If a participant is unable to attend a class a credit will be placed on file with GIP that may be used at any time for a future class. The credit may be used one-time class transfer and the credit does not expire.

Where is the class hosted? The class will be hosted on GoToMeeting and run for 4 hours including two 10-minute breaks.

Is this a partisan program or supported by a political party? No, the Girls in Politics Initiative is a private company that is self-funded through the fees generated from hosting sessions.
