Once again, we welcome Viridian Strings back to the Beck Gallery at the Oliver Art Center for a special performance August 29th at 7:00 pm! Journey through the elegance of the past, the colors of impressionism, and the bold voice of today as Viridian Strings presents an evening of captivating string quartet music. This program flows from Haydn’s wit and innovation to Griffes’ dreamlike soundscapes, a thrilling world premiere by Ben Webster, and Ravel’s radiant lyricism that showcases the evolution of the string quartet across centuries.There will be TWO world premier performances in this single program - PLUS a pre-show talk with composers Cherie Van Maanen and Tom Childs. Program:
Haydn – String Quartet in B Minor, Op. 33 No. 1 –
Playful, dramatic, and endlessly inventive, Haydn redefined the string quartet with Op. 33.
Griffes – Two Sketches Based on Native American Themes –
A fusion of mystery and folk-inspired melodies, full of atmospheric beauty.
Ben Webster – World Premiere – "Air on Haydn's Name"
A newly commissioned work, expanding the language of the string quartet for today’s audiences.
Ravel – String Quartet in F Major –
Sensual, shimmering, and rhythmically rich—one of the most beloved quartets of all time.

Doors open at 5:45pm, pre-show talk from 6:00 - 6:30 pm, concert begins at 7:00 pm. Refreshments available. Please show your tickets or provide your last name at the reception desk upon arrival. VIP ticket holders, please proceed to the 2nd level Bridge after checking in - accessible by elevator or stairs.
About the Venue:
The Oliver Art Center is wheelchair accessible. Please advise us if you require assistance of any kind during your stay.
Parking is limited, if the lot is full please use the circular drive to drop off passengers and then park on 2nd street or Main street - please DO NOT park at the Coast Guard or Harbor Lights as you may be towed. Please do not park where there are orange traffic cones and be sure to respect our neighbors by not blocking their driveways. Thank you for your helping us be good neighbors!
Seating Options:
Choose from comfortable General Admission floor seating or our VIP Bridge seating. VIP Bridge seats are located on our bridge overlooking the Beck Gallery, and are sold in pairs. VIP seating features two bar-height chairs and a hi-top table, and includes light refreshments during the event.

Please note there are two ticket prices - a "Standard Ticket" and an "OAC Member" ticket. If you choose the member ticket, we will confirm your membership is up-to-date and email you a renewal notice if needed. Thank you!
