Workshop Description:
Dark Fusion Sword – Choreography & Technique Workshop
Step into a space where movement becomes ritual and the sword an extension of your intention.
In this 5-hour immersive workshop, we will dive into the dark, gothic, and witchy aesthetics of fusion sword dance. Blending technique and choreography, this workshop is designed to support both your technical precision and your artistic expression.
We will explore foundational and refined sword technique by focusing on control, fluidity, and presence, before weaving these elements into a powerful and atmospheric choreography. Expect detailed guidance, layering, and space to embody the movement in your own way.
This workshop is not only about learning steps, but about creating a connection—to the sword, to the music, and to your own inner landscape. Themes of ritual, intention, and embodiment will guide us throughout the day.
At the end of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to film the choreography and submit it for an online show.
This workshop is open to dancers with prior experience in fusion or sword work who are looking to deepen their practice and explore a darker, more expressive aesthetic.

About Virginie:
Virginie Violett is a Black Forest–based dancer with a deep affinity for dark, mystical forms of expression. Her style moves between Dark Fusion, and ritual-inspired dance, often infused with a subtle “witchy” aesthetic that makes her work distinctive and recognizable.
As a performer and teacher, she combines precise technique with emotional depth and creative freedom. Her work with the sword—especially within Dark Fusion Sword Style—embodies control, presence, and storytelling. For her, dance is not only about movement, but about atmosphere, intention, and the creation of immersive worlds on stage.
Rooted in a feminist perspective, her work is deeply connected to themes of women’s empowerment. She is passionate about creating safer spaces where dancers can explore strength, vulnerability, and self-expression—reclaiming movement as a source of personal power and agency.
Internationally booked, she shares her knowledge in workshops that blend choreographic processes with technical training. Her teaching invites dancers to explore their own expressive voice and to experience dance as a personal ritual.
Training & Influences
Virginie Violette’s love for sword dance began in 2014. She was the first teacher in Germany to teach the later developed “Sacred Sword Dialect” by Melody Bustillos and is certified in her Sacred Sword format for both single and double sword. She is also an FCBD® Style Advanced Teacher with over 15 years of experience in teaching and performing.
During the pandemic, she deepened her connection to modern fusion sword dance and fell in love with the style of Belladonna Blade. Since then, she has been training at the Bohemian Belly Dance Academy, where she is a Boho Blade Level 5 Artist, Double Sword Level 2 certified, and a Bohemian Belly Dance Foundation Teacher.
Her intentional and ritual-based approach to sword work has also been strongly influenced by Shannon Burla and her “Sword Magic” format.
These influences shape her work profoundly and are reflected in her unique blend of technique, expression, and ritual depth.
