About this Event
London Makers Market will be hosting a number of creative workshops on Tuesday evenings this Autumn in Battersea. As the days get shorter, there's nothing more satisfying than getting creative with friends and family in a cosy environment. There will also be a mini market at each of these events, showcasing a collection of small business treats, ideal for Christmas gifts and celebrations.
The Workshop:
If you love all things vintage, retro or kitsch and would like to explore the calming, mindful effects of collage, you should join Laura from goose glitters for a 2 hour masterclass in making your own piece of paper art!
We'll be making a collage from only old, recycled paper materials such as books and magazines - maybe you want to keep the collage yourself, maybe you're making it for a lovely friend or family member.
What's included?
- 2 hours of tips & tricks on sourcing images, cutting, puzzle'ing and creating your artwork - you'll be shown the full start-to-finish process of creating your vintage collage.
- All the vintage paper materials for you to work with - lots of books, magazines, postcards, posters etc! (feel free to bring personal pictures if you like to use these)
- You'll have the option to purchase a vintage picture frame to take your artwork home in (all around 5 GBP)
No previous experience needed for this workshop and we welcome absolutely everyone. Collage has proven to reduce stress and anxiety, create connection and stimulate creativity. With our hectic lives nowadays, Laura believes it's even more important to give our busy heads a break from worrying, overthinking or planning and she hopes you will experience a bit of the calming effects collage can give you in this session.
Laura is a hand-cut collage artist re-using old, vintage papers to create her fun, quirky art. Originally from the Netherlands, Laura has been living and working in the UK for the past 8 years. She has years of experience in the corporate worlds of advertising and print, and now runs goose glitters full time from her London home.
The Venue:
This session will take place at the gorgeous Duchess Belle pub in Battersea, in their private room upstairs. The pub has a friendly cosy atmosphere and dates back to 1883. Situated in the heart of Battersea, close to Battersea Cats and Dogs Home, and nearby stations - Battersea Power Station and Vauxhall, it is easy to get to.
You will be able to buy food and drink at the pub, and they often have food deals to tempt you. We would advise getting to the venue earlier than the class start time so that you can order refreshments.
Parking is free from 6.30pm if you can find a space in nearby streets behind the pub (Thessaly Road/Stewart's Road/Ascalon Street). Please note that you can only access these streets from Wandsworth Road, not Battersea Park Road.

London Makers Market:
As a platform driven by creativity and community, we are teaming up with lots of workshop hosts to help support them in the lead up to Christmas and bring our network something a little different.
We have been hosting online and physical events (at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich) since LMM was born in February 2020. These have helped support and connect over 500 small businesses with interested customers and other creatives. We hope to find a space that is large enough for a big Christmas market this year, to celebrate all of the fantastic makers from London and beyond.

The class will start promptly at 7pm, please aim to arrive 10 minutes early. We will try to seat groups together as much as possible. If you are part of a group booking separately, please contact us to let us know your group details.
Please note that drinks and food are not included in the ticket price. We do not accept refunds for these sessions unless the event is cancelled.
