Vigil for Peace, People and the Planet

Many of us are feeling a deep grief about the state of the world. In times like these, it’s easy to believe that we have no power to make a difference. Yet, there is one simple and profound action we can take—no matter how tired, jaded, or confused we may feel.
We can come together to sit and stand in solidarity for peace, for people, and for the planet. There is nothing more powerful than people simply showing up. It is a small step, but a powerful one that reminds us we are not alone. It is a step that allows us to collectively amplify our feelings of care and connection to each other and to the world.
We invite you—and the entire community—to join a collective silent vigil on Saturday, February 28th. For Gaza, Ukraine, the United States. Syria, Lebanon, Yemen. Sudan, Libya. For our own Indigenous people in Canada, as well as all other people and places in North America that have been harmed. For every corner of the world where the current powers that be are continuing to harm people and the planet in the name of profit, or where the impacts of past harm continue to be felt - the Middle East, Africa, Central America, South America, Asia, Oceania, Antarctica, Europe.
There will be no speeches; our only action will be to gather and add our presence. Come as you are, in whatever way you can: alone, with family, friends, children, or pets. Bring whoever you wish, bring a sign that reflects your feelings if you wish. The location is currently being determined and updated details will be posted on this event page.
Let us sit and stand together in silence, and feel the support of others who share the same demand for well-being, peace, and freedom for every person in the world, and for the planet itself.
You are welcome to follow your own prayer or meditation practice, or simply direct your thoughts and care toward this collective intention.
The vigil will begin at 12 pm and end at 5 pm. You can show up anytime in that timeframe and are welcome to attend for as long or as little as you like. We hope you can and will join us.
