Description:
This Continuing Education session will focus upon learning the theoretical foundation and practical applications of self-compassion as a therapeutic intervention to address client symptoms and work towards treatment goals. Participants will learn the core tenets of self-compassion, strategies for using self-compassion interventions with clients, ways to integrate the approach within a broader theoretical approach, and opportunities for use of self-compassion alongside spiritual integration.
Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to describe the components of self-compassion and ways to use in clinical settings.
2. Participants will be able to connect self-compassion with their theoretical approach.
3. Participants will be able to integrate self-compassion with client’s spirituality and self-care.
Speaker Bios:
Cynthia Canner MS, LGPC, NCC received her Masters degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University Maryland. She works with individuals and couples, both in- person and via telehealth, from a variety of backgrounds concerning anxiety, depression, life-transitions, identity issues, relationship distress, PTSD, grief, and spirituality.
Melody Weber is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor. She received her master’s degree in professional counseling from Southeastern University and her PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision from Loyola University Maryland. She works with clients exploring anxiety, depression, life transitions, career, work life balance, and spiritual themes.
